What is Flutter?

Nowadays, many applications need to run on different devices, including iOS, Android, and the web. That’s why Google has made Flutter UI toolkit, which helps you create beautiful native apps from a single code base without sacrificing consistency, speed, or performance.

Flutter renders the app on its own rather than having the platform to do so. This means that your software is super fast and flexible and can run on any device you choose. There’s never any bridge or context switch you need to change between your app and the platform. All Flutter demands from the framework are a canvas to make widgets appear on the system screen and access activities, such as finger presses, and utilities such as camera and geolocation.

Popular brands in large campaigns have used dart and Flutter — you’ll find them in Google Ads, eBay, BMW, Tencent, Groupon, and many more. In this post, we share the well-known smartphone applications we use every day made with Flutter.

  1. Google Products — Stadia, Google Ads, Google Assistant
Google Stadia is a streaming site for players. This service is available on mobile devices, iOS, and Android. UI Technical Lead reported on 18 November 2019 that the Stadia software was designed using the Flutter SDK. The Stadia team agreed to use this platform during the prototyping process of the project.
Flutter got funding a while ago and now allows it easy to write applications for other platforms, such as mobile and desktop. However, Stadia’s creators acknowledged that only smartphone applications use Flutter for Stadia’s deployment period. However, this is proof for devs from all over the world that they can give this system a shot. Not only did Google make it for themselves, but they also use it in their products.
Flutter is also included in the Google Advertising control smartphone app. Unlike the previous application, the latest Google Advertising software provides more significant analysis, campaign management alerts, and campaign editing. It also helps Google experts to be consulted via it.
Flutter also helps fuel a rising range of Google Assistant applications.
  2. Reflective App
Built with Flutter as the backbone, Reflectly is an AI-based lifestyle framework that empowers users to create their blog. It introduces a new set of questions to the user every day, to consider their everyday lives, tension levels, pessimistic feelings, and inhibitions.
The team has programmed this technology for iOS. When they wanted to launch the Android app, there was a concern. Owing to the massive success of the app, they planned to rewrite it entirely in 2018. They selected Flutter, which was ideal for that reason. In two months, they rewrote their software and made it available for both Android and iOS. The new edition was distributed in May 2019.
“Using Firebase Analytics and Sentry, we closely tracked updates for any unintended problems when they were being distributed to new and existing users. Despite Flutter’s beta mark, we haven’t and haven’t had any big problems with Flutter’s development across hundreds of thousands of customers, operating on a multitude of various iOS and Android devices.” ~ says Daniel Vestergaard, Co-founder & CTO.
  3. Alibaba
A big name in the eCommerce industry, multiple downloads during the day, Alibaba has developed its application with Flutter technology. Organizational engineers have been struck by the features of Flutter — its perfect UI/UX, saving time and effort, quick maintenance, and more.
Alibaba has a pre-made app already. That’s why their work started with the step-by-step introduction of Flutter features, incorporating more functionality based on that structure.
  4. Groupon App
Groupon is another example of a business that has used a pre-made program. It had two forms of apps — customer-facing and merchant-facing. The first one currently has more than 50 million downloads. The second one was much bigger, downloaded more than 500 thousand times, which is why it wasn’t so risky to introduce modern technologies.
Groupon has also chosen to incorporate Flutter with the current approach instead of rewriting the software from scratch.
  5. eBay Motors
One of the goods in the leading retail site is Flutter. This mobile app helps people to sell and purchase cars using their smartphones. In only a few clicks, they’ll be able to browse the sales, post ads, and bid on the vehicles they want.
The biggest obstacle that the eBay Innovation Team had to tackle was a short time — it had just one year to reach the market. They just wanted a fantastic user interface that would contain all the functionality familiar to eBay customers. They stumbled upon Flutter, which was in its 1.0 iteration, and figured it was ideally tailored to their target. The key advantages included almost no platform-specific coding, fast programming, and excellent UI.
  6. Tencent
One of China’s leading corporations working globally and delivering digital goods and services also uses Flutter — not only for one but for a variety of their applications. This includes DingDang, AITeacher, K12, QiDian, Mr. Translator, and Now Live.
Tencent’s fundamental aim was to create a seamless and beautiful environment for all its consumers, no matter what product they’re connected to. Their apps are widespread — they assist with work, research, travel, and many other everyday activities. Reaching several channels has helped Tencent to be scalable and highly accessible with their apps.
Developers have wisely used both of Flutter’s advantages — to code quicker, incorporate easier, and produce impressive outcomes.
  7. Hamilton Musical
GoPosse was looking to create a smartphone app for Hamilton Broadway Musical. It was expected to work on both Android and iOS. The team selected the Flutter system because, according to them, it was simpler and more enjoyable to work with.
“Flutter has made it easier to produce more and at a higher quality standard. If we had built two entirely native, stand-alone applications, we would never have shipped the feature set we had at launch. The opportunity to do more continues to be a huge bonus as we expand and add functionality to the product weekly.” ~ said in a blog post.
  8. SpaceX Go!
This software focuses on the Tesla Space Unit. It provides all the information needed on the history of the incidents and the ones to come, the cars’ specifics, the ships, and everything about Tesla. It has a clutter-free, simple, and niche interface that is easy to use and loves consumers’ eyes.
This app has a ship locator that allows the user to search the location, speed, and status of the active spacecraft used by SpaceX. The Tesla locator is also available and shows the orbit, distance, and speed of Elon Musk’s Tesla.
Thanks to Flutter’s implementation and its range of features, SpaceX Go has accomplished these features designed to have a better user interface.
  9. Dream 11
A world-famous app for cricket fans, Dream 11 has been using Flutter with its UI and adjustable widgets. This software functions wonderfully because of these widgets that rely on the material design and are versatile to be used by both OS — Android and iOS.
As a popular app in India, users play a range of sports and a popular name for sports freaks.
  10. Realtor.com
As a real estate application to help people locate their perfect home, Realtor.com has been doing a decent job. With the support of Flutter, this app will give updates when homes are on sale and any new development is coming up in the real estate arena.
  11. The New York Times
The New York Times doesn’t need to be introduced. The well-loved Ken Ken puzzle on the New York Times smartphone and online forum is sponsored by Flutter and has given users an enjoyable experience on various OSes, such as Linux, Windows, iOS, Mac, and the web.
In 2019, Google announced that Flutter would also offer programmers the opportunity to code desktops and mobile applications. The New York Times revealed that they had a KENKEN game available on the site simultaneously. No wonder it was made with Flutter.

To Pen Down

Developers are fluttering their talents with Flutter — a famous, state-of-the-art hybrid software development platform driven by none other than Google. The list of applications made in Flutter is bound to grow at a rapid rate. Newer applications and companies will add up, due to Flutter, as the latest technology boom.
